The Dressmaker of Winterset by Marianne Fons

Many of you know Marianne from her time teaching quilting at Sievers on the island, her work with Quilts of Valor, from her television show or magazine, or from her time on the island in general where she owns a home. Most recently she has both volunteered and worked at our shop in preparation both for the launch of this debut novel as well as her plan to open a bookshop in her hometown of Winterset Iowa where this book is set.

The Dressmaker is an homage to the Scarlet Letter set in Winterset during the 1950's. Marianne has a love of classic literature (and a college major in it) and experience in fashion retail which inform this terrific debut novel. Deb has read the manuscript, and even before the editors at Hachette worked with her it was a compelling read.
