This book by island resident and author Richard Purinton documents the story of Washington Island's beautiful replica of a Norwegian stave church. The church hosts weddings and services during the summer, and was built by island volunteers from Trinity Luthern Church as a tribute to their Norwegian heritage. The book is rich in photos and Purinton's text is clear and vivid as he lived on the island through the creation of the church and is a member of the congregation that undertook it's creation.
